back to MDI News CHARLESTON, SC (January 30, 2006) – Southern Living magazine has selected Margaret Donaldson Interiors (MDI) as the exclusive interior design firm for the 2006 Southern Living Idea House at Daniel Island in Charleston, SC. MDI will be responsible for the complete interior design of the four-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath house, which is currently under construction on Daniel Island. The updated traditional style house will feature a large porch, brick-and-siding exteriors, and a landscaped garden. The Southern Living Idea House will open for tours in June, with a majority of the proceeds to benefit a local charity. In its August issue, Southern Living magazine will feature the house, which is one of three 2006 Southern Living Idea Houses. “We are thrilled to work with Margaret Donaldson Interiors on this project,” said Christina Lynch, Southern Living Idea House program manager. MDI has an impressive portfolio as well as strong behind-the-scenes organizational skills. With so many ‘moving parts,’ organization is a key component to a successful Idea House.” Margaret Donaldson Interiors offers full-scale interior design services, specializing in upscale residences and new construction consultation with architects and craftspeople. Principal designer, Margaret Donaldson, ASID, often works with architectural plans to ensure that the resulting interiors are practical and geared toward the client’s lifestyle. The interior design industry has recognized MDI with several industry awards, including numerous Honor and Merit Awards given by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). MDI’s recent projects include the interior design of numerous historic houses in the Charleston area and new construction homes on the barrier islands. The builder for the 2006 Southern Living Idea House at Daniel Island is Charleston-based Max G. Crosby Construction, Inc. Mitchell Ginn & Associates of Newnan, GA, designed the island house. Robert Chestnut of Charleston is providing the landscape design.
